World Boxing Organization (WBO) No. 6 bantamweight Dondon Concepcion, l20 l/2, halted Raul Cabato, ll9, at 0:24 of the sixth in another tenner. Gary Garay, 130 l/2, blasted Arnold Jaspe, l30 l/2, into submission at 2:03 of a tenner.

March 6, l998. Tangub City, Misamis Occidental. Promoter: Sancho Oaminal. Ramil Anito, 112, scored a unanimous 10-round decision over Felix Mantos, 112. Emer Barrientos, 112, also beat Allan Orkis, 111, via a unanimous decision in a tenner.

March 10, l998. Valencia, Bukidnon. Promoter: Leonel Lazarito. Jun Loma, 112, defeated Nelson Mantos, 112, by unanimous decision in 10. Gerry de Garcia, l34, stopped Jun Carreon, l35, at the end of the sixth in a companion tenner.

March 15, l998. Valencia, Bukidnon. Promoter: Leonel Lazarito. Bert Bado, 144, stopped Noel Toledo, 147, at l:32 of the fifth. Former Oriental featherweight titlist Samuel Duran, l27, knocked out Jimmy Laping, l25, in only 56 secods of the first stanza. Benjie Duran, l30, halted Edgar Richa, l30, at l:l4 of the second. Ernie Urdaniza, l23 l/2, pounded out a unanimous 10-round decision over Brutus Gasstador, l23.

March l5, l998. Sinacban Municipal Gym, Misamis Occidental. Promoter: Sancho Oaminal. Emer Barrientos, 112, eked out a split 10-round verdict over Randy Narbay, 110. Rocky Rogers, ll3, scored a unanimous eight-round decision over Ramil Anito, ll2.

March 28, l998. Agdao Market, Davao City. Promoter: Vic Adriano. Boy Ligas, l34, retained his Philippine Boxing Federation lightweight crown via a split l2-round decision over Ariel Neri, l34.


RESULTS IN JAPAN

ODAWARA--Odawara Arena--JBC #4 junior bantam Takashi Yahara, 115, eked out a split verdict over Naoki Matsuda, a local prospect in Odawara, over 10. There were no knockdowns, but it was a hot see-saw battle. Scored: 98-95 and 98-97, both for Yahara, and 98-97 for Matsuda. The close victor is 12-5-1, one KO. Matsuda fell to 9-4, 4 KOs.

Fast-moving and soft-punching local favorite Hiroki Shinozaki, 115, lopsidedly battered Takayuki Yanagi, 114 1/4, and halted him at 2:30 of the 9th session in a supporting 10. Shinozaki, fomerly All-Japan Shinjin-o (novice king) tourney winner, is 12-2-1, 3 KOs. The lefty loser dropped to 9-7, 3 KOs. It was Shinozaki's first appearance since he suffered a couple of stoppages by ex-WBA jr. fly champ Hiroki Ioka in Oct., 1996 and Kimihiko Ide in Apr. of the previous year.
