WOLF TOKIMITSU KEEPS OPBF MINI-FLY TITLE

KURASHIKI--Kurashiki Sanyo Heights Gymnasium--The OPBF mini-fly champ WOLF TOKIMITSU, 104 3/4, floored Indonesian MOHAMAD SADIK, 102 1/2, with a countering right in the 6th and battered him en route to a TKO win at 1:31 of the 7th round in a scheduled 12.

Tokimitsu had captured the OPBF crown from Indonesian Nico Thomas on points last Feb. In his first defense, he was befuddled by Sadik's furious aggressiveness in the first 2 rounds. But Tokimitsu took back the initiative and whipped him with a flurry of punches. The 6th saw the champ drop the Indonesian with a vicious right. In the fatal session, Tokimitsu banged him out so that Sadik turned his back, when referee Ichiro Uenaka called a well-received stoppage.

Tokimitsu, the WBC #6 contender, raised his mark to 12-2, 5 KOs.

Unbeaten KAZUNORI FUJITA, 129 3/4, stopped TAKAYUKI SOEDA, 130, at 0:12 of the 2nd round to extend his unbeaten mark to 7-0, 5 KOs. The loser dipped to 3-5.

Oct. 11 IKEDA--Satsukiyama Gymnasium--JBC #4 ranked super welter TAKENORI SAKAGUCHI(right photo), 153 3/4, pounded out a unanimous decision over YASUEI TARUI(left photo), JBC #6 super welter, 153 1/4, over 10. Scored: 100-94, 100-92 and 99-94, all for Sakaguchi, 8-1, 2 KOs. Tarui fell to 6-4-2, 6 KOs.

Mexican EDUARDO MANZANO, fighting as a Japanese nom-de-guerre Suzuki Manzano, 106, was awarded a split decision over KAZUHIRO SHIMA(right photo), 107 3/4, in his debut in Japan over 8 rounds. Scored: 80-75 and 77-76 for Manzano, and 78-76 for Shima. Manzano is reportedly 18-5, 11 KOs. Shima is 2-3-1, one KO. Promoter: Morioka Promotions. (10-11-98)

KUMAMOTO--Suizenji Gymnasium--Former Japanese super bantam champ KYOSHIRO FUKUSHIMA(right photo), 126, earned a unanimous decision over PHAMTOM KUBO, 125 1/2, over 8.

Fukushima is 18-5-1, 3 KOs. Kubo fell to 7-6-1, 5 KOs.

YOSHIKAZU MATSUSHITA(left photo), 117 1/2, halted HITOSHI AOKI, 117 3/4, at 0:57 of the 8th and final session.
