Kawashima, handled by ex-WBC champ Hideyuki Ohashi, is 12-1, 8 KOs. Napa fell to 16-6-1, 8 KOs.

KAZU KAZU ARISAWA FINISHES BASALO IN 5

TOKYO, JAPAN-JBC #4 ranked feather KAZU ARISAWA(right photo), 127 1/4, fought patiently, but exploded a fusillade of punches to finish Filipino DODONG BASALO, 128, at 2:22 of the 5th in a scheduled 10.

OHKUBO Kazu, a twin brother of national super-feather champ Koji Arisawa, kept circling and jabbing to respect the Filipino's big shots. But Kazu solved his opponent's strategy, and went out to finish the affair in the 5th. His furious combinations made him down in the neutral corner for the count. Kazu is 16-2-1, 13 KOs. Basalo reportedly fell to 6-6-3, 2 KOs.

UNDERCARD:

MAKOTO OHKUBO(left photo), 134 1/2, amazed the crowd with a quick demolition of Filipino EFREN LEGASPINO, 135, with a single jab at 2:05 of the opening canto in a scheduled 8. Legaspino appeared to have left his fighting spirit at his home country.

EX-JAPANESE CHAMP ARAI DECISIONS OHNO

OSAKA, JAPAN-Ex-Japanese super-light champ HISAO ARAI outscored SHIGEYUKI OHNO over 10. Arai, JBC #3 ranked super-light, is 20-3-2, 14 KOs. The lefty puncher is gunning for a shot at the OPBF 140-pound crown against Chongkil Kim in the near future.

HAGIWARA AND KIMURA FIGHTS TO TECHNICAL DRAW

TOKYO, JAPAN-The JBC's top and second ranked feathers met with ATASUSHI HAGIWARA, 125 1/2, and TOSHIKAGE KIMURA, 126, fighting to a technical draw at 1:09 of the 10th and final round.

Hagiwara suffered a cut over the left eyebrow, and it became worsened as the contest progressed. Finally the referee, Ken Morita, stopped the affair and took a technical verdict, as follows: Shimakawa 87-87, Uratani 88-86 for Kimura and Kanaya 88-87 for Hagiwara.

The lefty Hagiwara is 21-4-1, 10 KOs. Kimura is 17-2-4, 7 KOs.

UNDERCARD:

JBC #1 ranked bantam EIICHI ODAKA, 122, barely outpointed KOICHI HORIE, 121 1/2, JBC #6 super-bantam, over 10. Odaka, a rugged fighter, is 22-3, 13 KOs. Hoie dropped to 12-3, 7 KOs.
